Margaret Ferguson, MD, leads one of Colorado’s largest physician groups of nearly 1,200 primary care and specialty care physicians and administrative team members who work in unique collaboration with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan to offer care to the more than 680,000 Kaiser Permanente members living in Colorado.
Dr. Ferguson came to Kaiser Permanente 13 years ago, in 2004, to help build the pediatric hospitalist program at Exempla Good Samaritan Hospital. In June of 2008, she was appointed the physician director of resource stewardship, working to monitor and apply benefits and guidelines to care delivery requests.
Dr. Ferguson began her work in health care as nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Denver’s Children’s Hospital 34 years ago. She decided to go to medical school and attended the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where she trained in general pediatrics and then pediatric intensive care. She continued to work at Children’s Hospital Colorado as a physician, most recently as medical director of inpatient services. Dr. Ferguson also serves as an assistant professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
