Kaiser Permanente recently earned the number 1 spot in the nonprofit category on the 2018 Military Friendly Top Ten Gold Employer list, up from number 3 in 2017. This marks the third consecutive year that the organization has been recognized as a Military Friendly Employer by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs and other military friendly brands.

“Receiving top ranking for outstanding commitment and programs for the nation’s veterans and their families is a great honor, and demonstrates that our vision and strategy are solid.” said Marcus Williams, Kaiser Permanente Military and Disability Recruitment Programs leader.

Kaiser Permanente is committed to providing lasting, vital careers for veterans, and their families, and working together to create a thriving, mutually beneficial workplace. Through our Junior Military Officer program, high-performing military officers are launching successful new careers, and our military recruitment area on KP Careers is helping veterans from all branches and levels of the military find challenging and meaningful careers with us.

Jonathan Haydock, who joined Kaiser Permanente in 2015 as part of our first cohort of Junior Military Officers, accepted his current role with us as director of Quality Operations in the Northern California Region after serving a year and a half in the JMO program. Jonathan is one of nine JMOs from the 2015 and 2016 cohorts who have officially launched their new careers at Kaiser Permanente.

“During my JMO rotations, I worked with fantastic people every day,” he said. “This is one of the main reasons I wanted to continue my career at Kaiser Permanente. I’m passionate about serving and supporting those in need and I truly believe that Kaiser Permanente fosters their mission statement in improving the lives of our members and the communities we serve. For me, this was a natural fit as I went from the military service to the public sector.”

We’re also building lasting partnerships and strategic alliances that significantly improve how we recruit and support veterans and their families including the Military Spouse Employment Partnership and the Veteran Jobs Mission.

Across Kaiser Permanente, our KP Veterans Association gives a voice to the strengths, needs and concerns of military veterans and their families. KPVA has active chapters across our organization whose members are committed to supporting employees with military connections and increasing our outreach to address challenges faced by veterans and active-duty service members in the communities we serve.
