With a focus on family-centered care, the new location at 322 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. opened Monday, Oct. 1 with physicians and staff specializing in pediatrics, family medicine, obstetrics-gynecology and internal medicine.
Spanning 11,000 square feet, the new facility features free Wi-Fi access and an onsite computer station just for members, making it easy to schedule follow-up care, view most test results and much more.
“This family care center represents the culmination of a journey that began 25 years ago when we opened our first medical office in Thousand Oaks with just one provider,” Joseph Kopecky, MD, physician in chief of Kaiser Permanente Thousand Oaks, told the audience at the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Sept. 28.
“Now we have three medical offices in the area, giving our patients access to a full range of services that include everything from urgent care to cardiology, dermatology and physical and occupational therapy.”
The new facility joins existing Kaiser Permanente medical offices located at 365 East Hillcrest Drive and 145 Hodencamp Road in Thousand Oaks.
The new medical offices also feature the work of 12 local artists who were inspired by the spectacular natural beauty of the Conejo Valley. Representing a variety of media, including paintings, pastels, watercolors, giclee prints, photography, fiber and ceramics, the artwork evokes the lush open space, plants and wildlife of the Santa Monica Mountains.
“We want our medical offices to be a place of rest, rejuvenation and comfort for our patients, physicians and staff,” says Linda Donner, department administrator of the new medical offices. “The chosen artwork reflects our commitment to the total health and wellness of our patients and the communities that we serve.”
Recognizing the influence of environment on total health, Kaiser Permanente collaborated with art consultant and curator Joanna Burke, president of Joanna Burke Consultants, Inc., a Venice (Calif.)-based firm that selects and guides placement of artwork in a variety of commercial and residential settings in Southern California and throughout the United States.
“We know that health care environments and experiences can be stressful, so we created a space that offers visual and emotional relief to patients, family and staff,” says Burke. “This installation exemplifies Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to total health — mind, body and spirit.”
A community open house will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, 10 a.m. to noon at the 322 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. Medical Offices. Visitors will be able to tour the facility, enjoy kids’ activities, recipe demonstrations, free smoothies and meet physicians.
To attend the community open house, please RSVP by Oct. 8 to (818) 719-4122 or register online at www.kpopenhouse.org.
