SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Kaiser Permanente will open medical offices in Santa Monica on May 11, bringing convenient access to expert care and innovative, technology-driven services to those who live and work in the Santa Monica area. The Santa Monica Medical Office will feature six world-class physicians providing high-quality primary care, including pediatrics and rotating specialties, along with the convenience of a nurse clinic, pharmacy and laboratory.
“We are thrilled to increase our presence in this community with a state-of-the-art facility and a unique patient care experience that integrates technology and wellness in a transformative way,” said Georgina Garcia, senior vice president and area manager for Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center. “We’re excited to offer more care delivery options than ever before, bringing healthcare to members when and where they need it.”
That could mean telephone or video appointments, which allow patients to connect with their doctor through the convenience of smartphones or tablets. Interactive patient rooms also allow for video visits with specialty doctors at other Kaiser Permanente medical centers and offices.
“If a patient in my office can benefit from a consult, we can have them see one of our specialists virtually. It’s same-day, same-time care,” said Greg Saccone, MD, physician in charge at Kaiser Permanente’s Santa Monica Medical Offices.
The design of the medical offices also lends itself to a more personalized and nurturing approach to care. Soothing sounds and a green “living wall” welcome patients into the space, and light-filled nurse stations and exam rooms promote patient comfort at every turn.
There are also unique design elements that reflect the truly unique Santa Monica culture, thanks to local artists whose photography and mosaic tile work appear throughout the medical offices. “Ultimately we wanted to create an entirely new kind of experience for our patients – one that feels more Zen-like and tranquil. It’s not your traditional doctor’s office,” said Saccone.
