OAKLAND, Calif. — For the sixth year in a row, Kaiser Permanente has earned the Pharmacy Quality Alliance’s Excellence in Quality Award for high achievement in medication safety and appropriate use.

Kaiser Permanente’s Medicare plan in California was honored with the Quality Award at the PQA’s annual meeting on May 19.

“Medication safety and effectiveness is essential for providing high-quality care,” said Jamie Chan, PharmD, executive director of medication quality and patient safety for Kaiser Permanente’s national pharmacy program. “We are pleased that that once again our coordinated care delivery model has resulted in quality scores that merit recognition from the PQA. This honor illustrates the value we provide our Medicare members in the critical area of medication management.”
