OAKLAND, Calif. — Kaiser Permanente announced today that its flagship app, the KP App, has been downloaded more than 1 million times. The app empowers members to connect with their doctors, other care providers and their personal health information anytime, anywhere.
“We’re seeing that members are using the app most often to securely email their doctors and manage appointments,” said Madhu Nutakki, vice president of digital presence technologies, Kaiser Permanente. “Giving members the ability to quickly and easily connect with their doctors and other care providers, no matter where they are, empowers them to become actively engaged in their health care.”
Members also can use the app to view lab test results and medical record information, refill prescriptions, and find Kaiser Permanente locations and services. “I like to think of the KP App as a digital Kaiser Permanente medical center. Everything is there when and where you need it, all in one place, and that’s where the real value lies,” Nutakki said.
Access to My Health Manager features has been associated with improved health outcomes, member satisfaction and member retention. “The convenience of digital tools in all markets is evident. What’s really exciting about digital tools for Kaiser Permanente is how they can help our members reach their health goals and form meaningful relationships with their doctors and other care providers,” said Susan Moon, vice president of member and market facing digital services, Kaiser Permanente.
Kaiser Permanente members have had online access to these powerful health management tools through My Health Manager on kp.org for years. “We know they love these tools. Our goal with the app was to move those tools to an even more convenient platform and create an experience that is engaging and functional, that anyone can use,” said Brian Gardner, executive director of the mobility center of excellence, Kaiser Permanente.
