Frank Flowers, MD, Named Kaiser Permanente Area Medical Director in Riverside County

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Kaiser Permanente has named Frank M. Flowers, Jr., MD, as its area medical director for the Riverside area.

The people here at Kaiser Permanente are the foundation and engine that make us great,” said Dr. Flowers. “I feel privileged to be able to help people in all aspects of their health. We serve awesome members and communities, and at Kaiser Permanente, we are committed to their health and wellbeing.”

Earlier this year, Dr. Flowers was recognized as the Southern California Permanente Medical Group 2013 Regional Family Medicine Physician of the Year. SCPMG provides medical care exclusively to Kaiser Permanente members in Baldwin Park, Downey, Fontana/Ontario, Kern County, Los Angeles, Orange County (Anaheim/Irvine), Panorama City/Antelope Valley, Riverside/Moreno Valley, San Diego, South Bay, West Los Angeles and Woodland Hills/Ventura.

A family medicine physician who joined Kaiser Permanente’s Riverside Medical Center in 1987 and became a partner in 1989, Dr. Flowers has served as assistant area medical director since 2010 for the Riverside area, which serves over 375,000 members in Riverside County and portions of San Bernardino County. Over 460 physicians provide care at nine medical facilities, in addition to the two hospitals in Riverside County — Kaiser Permanente Riverside and Kaiser Permanente Moreno Valley.

Previously, Dr. Flowers served as physician in charge of the Corona medical offices; chief of Family Medicine and Urgent Care at Riverside Medical Center, and chief of Family Medicine at Moreno Valley Medical Center.

Dr. Flowers received a BS in biology from Wofford College and graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his residency at San Bernardino County Medical Center and is board certified in Family Medicine.

The Southern California Permanente Medical Group has 6,030 partner physicians and provides medical care to 3.6 million Kaiser Permanente members in 13 geographic areas.
