Born 3 months early, baby Oliver weighed just 1.5 pounds. Over the next 101 days, the neonatal intensive care team at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas, Oregon, cared for him as he received “various procedures, tests and injections” recalled his dad, John Border.
“After the first 5 minutes with the nurses, you know they know their stuff,” he said.
Now the parents of a healthy toddler, John and his wife, Bekah Graff, still keep in touch with the NICU staff.
“They remember him,” said John. “It’s been nine months since he left, and they still ‘ooh’ and ‘ah’ all over him.”
