Kp.org Wins New Media Award

Kaiser Permanente’s consumer website distinguished in Health/Nutrition category

OAKLAND, Calif. — Kaiser Permanente’s consumer website, kp.org, received the 2013 Best in Industry Award from the New Media Institute. In addition to offering thousands of pages of public health and wellness information in English and Spanish, kp.org is also the home of My Health Manager, the health care organization’s personal health record.

The New Media Institute judges entries on design, innovation and how well the website serves users’ needs.

My Health Manager empowers Kaiser Permanente members with easy and convenient tools and information to manage their health online and through their mobile devices. More than 4.3 million members are registered to use My Health Manager. In the first half of this year alone members:

• Viewed 17.5 million lab test results online
• Sent 7.4 million secure emails to their care providers
• Refilled 7.1 million prescriptions online
• Scheduled 1.8 million appointments online

The Kaiser Permanente flagship app has been downloaded more than 730,000 times on Android and iOS devices.
