RIVERSIDE, Calif. – On June 27, Kaiser Permanente introduced the community of Riverside to a new medical office building at 14305 Meridian Parkway.

“This new facility provides greater access to outpatient services and convenience for our members living in the area,” said Vita Willett, executive director, Kaiser Foundation Hospitals/Health Plan in Riverside County. The 48,000 square-foot facility includes nine departments with offices for 18 physicians.

Some of the services in the new facility include: Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Care Management, Allergy, Dermatology, Laboratory, Ophthalmology, Pharmacy and Radiology.

Among those attending the Meridian Medical Offices ribbon-cutting ceremony are (holding the scissors): Vita Willett, executive director, Riverside and Moreno Valley Medical Centers; Jill Duplechan, RN, MAOL, chief administrative officer, Riverside and Moreno Valley Medical Center; and Frank M. Flowers, Jr., MD, area medical director, Riverside Service Area.

“The additional capacity and specialty services that this facility houses greatly enhances our ability to serve the medical needs of the Riverside community,” said Frank Flowers, MD, area medical director for Kaiser Permanente in Riverside County.

“We are very proud of this beautiful new building. It is bright, colorful and boasts the latest technologies and equipment available,” said Jill Duplechan, RN, chief administrative officer, Kaiser Permanente in Riverside County.

Two nonprofit organizations that serve Riverside were highlighted in a check presentation representing Kaiser Permanente’s Community Benefit Grant Program:

The grant provides for Learn-to-Swim lessons, family swim passes, Junior Life Guard training and the Silver Swimmer Club for seniors. It is the 7th year of providing this grant, which will also help promote the “Rethink Your Drink” campaign. This campaign educates residents about drinking more water and other low-calorie beverages instead of sugar-sweetened beverages that contribute to obesity.
  • $20,000 to the Family Service Association to support Mobile Fresh, a grocery store on wheels, focusing on three areas: accessibility, affordability and nutritional value. FSA purchases fresh produce, dairy products and other grocery staples in bulk from local distribution warehouses and local farms to provide the lowest prices possible with the highest nutritional value. This is the first step in fighting obesity-related illnesses and health outcomes overall. Mobile Fresh currently reaches 22 communities in Riverside County.

Kaiser Permanente opened its medical center in Riverside in 1989 and its hospital in Moreno Valley in 2008. Currently, the organization provides care for over 371,000 members throughout Riverside County. Over 400 physicians care for members at 11 medical facilities and at Kaiser Permanente’s Riverside Medical Center and Moreno Valley Community Hospital. Riverside Medical Center is licensed for 226 beds. Moreno Valley Community Hospital has 101 licensed beds.
