ATLANTA — Lace up your sneakers! Kaiser Permanente of Georgia is partnering with Greenbriar Mall to offer Every Body Walk!, a program designed to encourage people to walk at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week. Starting Thursday, Kaiser Permanente will lead weekly walks inside the mall.
“Creating healthier communities is central to our mission, and we are thrilled to bring this walking initiative to Greenbriar Mall,” said Kerry W. Kohnen, president of Kaiser Permanente of Georgia, which operates the Cascade Medical Center at 1175 Cascade Parkway. “We believe that exercise is medicine. These weekly walks allow us to connect with the Southwest Atlanta community outside of the exam room.”
Mall walking can be an effective way for people to reach their exercise goals without not being limited by the weather. Many metro Atlanta malls open their doors a few hours early to allow the public access to a comfortable and protected environment.
This free summer walking program inside Greenbriar Mall will kick-off on Thursday, June 12, in front of Burlington Coat Factory from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be door prizes and small gifts.
Starting June 16, Kaiser Permanente will lead two 30-minute walks inside Greenbriar Mall between 10 a.m. and noon every Monday during the months of June and July. For dates and details, visit http://www.shopgreenbriar.com/kaiser-permenante-every-body-walk/. The weekly walks are open to the public, so put on your walking shoes, bring a friend and meet us at the mall!
