Kaiser Permanente Announces New Physician Leadership Roles in Northern Colorado

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Kaiser Permanente Colorado, the state’s largest not-for-profit health plan, today announced new roles for two of its physician leaders in Northern Colorado.

Patrick Kusek, MD, will assume the role of market medical director for Kaiser Permanente’s Northern Colorado service area. In this role, Dr. Kusek will serve as the physician lead for overall expansion and operations for Kaiser Permanente’s physician group, the Colorado Permanente Medical Group. Dr. Kusek will have responsibility for membership growth, quality of care and service, as well as medical office operations.

Dr. Kusek is a board certified pediatrician. He joined Kaiser Permanente in 1998 and has served as the health plan’s primary care area operations chief in Northern Colorado since 2011. Dr. Kusek is a Colorado native who grew up in Longmont.

Diane Lanese, MD, will continue her leadership in Northern Colorado as the physician director of Contracting and Provider Relations. In this position, Dr. Lanese will serve as the physician lead for Kaiser Permanente’s network of more than 400 providers. She has been instrumental in establishing provider partnerships with Banner Health and multiple affiliated provider groups.

Dr. Lanese is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. She has served as the regional department chief of Nephrology for the Colorado Permanente Medical Group since 2004. Since 2011, Dr. Lanese has been responsible for contracting and developing effective network provider relationships. She will continue to build these partnerships and ensure that the care being delivered by Kaiser Permanente partners in Northern Colorado is of exceptional quality.

Dr. Lanese is passionate about increasing access to health care and has volunteered with a medical missionary group to provide medical care in developing countries.
